I just came across this article today about the production of a car that runs on air. It seems that this concept has been around as a prototype for at least 10 years but it is finally ready to go on sale. The cars run on compressed air and have an approximate range 200km or 125 miles before needing a refill. The cars can be refilled in a couple of minutes with compressed air or by being plugged in for 4 hours. This site quotes a top speed of 70 km/h and a cost of $7000. The emissions from the engine are clean air. The cars probably won’t go on sale in North American. They are built with an fiberglass frame which does not meet road safety standards.
