This is a fantastic resource that might pass unnoticed because it is discreetly integrated within the web page. The New York Times has a search engine powered by Answers.com. If double click on any word in an article, a new window will pop up with a definition or encyclopedia entry on the word you selected. The information is drawn from the American Heritage Dictionary, Columbia University Press and WordNet. Imagine if all sites were connected in this way, you would have an instant link to a reference without having to hyperlink entire documents or pages. I think we might see more websites using this idea although perhaps with different reference sites.
